GRAPPLING

WHAT IS GRAPPLING?

Grappling (also known as Submission Grappling and No-Gi Grappling) is a new and modern combat sport involving gripping, grabbing and seizing an opponent – strikes and kicks are not allowed.

Submission Grappling is a ground-fighting type of sports in which the main objective is to impose a disadvantageous position, to immobilize and to submit an opponent using various submission holds, e.g. chokeholds and joint locks. In Submission Grappling, one utilizes and combines elements and techniques from various forms of ground-fighting martial arts, e.g. Wrestling, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). As ground fighting is an essential aspect in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), techniques used in Submission Grappling account for a great number of techniques used in MMA, too. A notable difference between Submission Grappling and other martial arts is that in Submission Grappling conventional sportswear may be worn instead of traditional martial arts uniforms.
